Two Bright Lights: What are you looking for when you review wedding submissions on Two Bright Lights?

Carrie Jones: When we review wedding submissions on Two Bright Lights, we look for beautiful real Chicago weddings that showcase the couple’s personality. We are interested in featuring all sorts of wedding themes and budgets. In addition to weddings, we look for unique and fun engagement/anniversary shoots, proposal stories, bridal showers, rehearsal dinners and  DIY projects.

TBL: What makes for a great submission?

CJ: A great submission is being able to see the couple’s personality shine through the photos. We love seeing couples in love and couples that mix fashion, style and attention to detail.

TBL: What style of photography do you typically prefer?

CJ: Wedding Guide Chicago prefers to feature fresh and contemporary wedding photography. We are always looking for unique styles and composition.

TBL: We’ve got to ask– any top tips for how to get published in Wedding Guide Chicago?

CJ: Wedding Guide Chicago accepts submissions of real Chicago weddings for our blog, SassyChicagoWeddings.com, as well as for the print magazine of Wedding Guide Chicago. We prefer the wedding to be local to the Chicagoland area, and we prefer to have one or more of our vendors featured, if possible. Think unique weddings with lots of great details, and with couples head over heels in love.

TBL: If you could tell photographers one thing, what would it be?

CJ: Photographers should be sure to submit as much information as possible, especially about the couple or the wedding day. We love being able to read the photographer’s take on the couple and the event. We also appreciate having the couple’s contact information and vendor information.

TBL: What are some of your favorite trends for weddings this season?

CJ: Multiple wedding gowns, bright colors, cascading bouquets, customizable dinner menus, invitations and naked cakes! Do we need to pick one? 🙂

TBL: Don’t hold back! Anything else you’d like to share?

CJ: We love using Two Bright Lights to receive submissions of different weddings. It is such a joy to see the beautiful photography of such a special day in the life of a couple!
