Real Wedding: A Blissful Backyard Fête

If you ask photographers why they love their jobs, you’ll get a plethora of answers. But, for many, what drives them to their craft is the ability to connect with amazing people. Maggie Fortson Photography knows the feeling well, especially in regard to working with the bride and groom in this wedding: “Since meeting Ashley and Kevin, I had no doubt that working with them was going to be such a joy. My goal with all my couples is to make sure they have a great experience working with me and my second photographer on their wedding day, but I always walk away with a great experience myself at the end of it all. With these two, that was seeing a love so full of laughter, friendship, and care that was impossible to miss. This couple and their loved ones made this day a highlight of my wedding season.” The photos Maggie Fortson Photography shared with us communicate Ashley and Kevin’s joy and love beautifully. Opting for a low-key, backyard celebration, the bride and groom hosted their big day at the lovely Oscar Swan Country Inn in Geneva, Illinois. They exchanged vows in a stunning outdoor ceremony under a big tree in the backyard accented with paper lanterns, string lights and hanging jars. Once Ashley and Kevin were pronounced husband and wife, they festivities began! While the bride, groom and their wedding party posed for pretty portraits with Maggie Fortson Photography, their guests mingled in the yard. Bride Ashley wore a gorgeous strapless gown with a sweetheart neckline and carried a bouquet filled with soft pink and white roses. Her bridesmaids carried similar but more simplistic bouquets and wore long grey gowns from Weddington Way. And, the groom looked fabulously dapper in a black suit with satin lapels while his best buddies rocked matching dress clothes and black suspenders. The duo’s reception took place under a tent covering the venue’s quaint brick patio area. They filled the space with round tables, white lattice-inspired chairs and DIY decor, including mini chalkboard table numbers and baby’s breath centerpieces. As you can probably guess, every single detail from the couple’s big day was as pretty as can be. But we must say, the bride and groom’s joy was hands-down the best detail the camera had the pleasure of capturing!
