Stacy lives in St. Louis with her husband and golden retriever (you’ll want to read their adorable proposal story of how he asked her). She gets to help extremely excited couples share the most amazing story of their life with their friends, family, and all the love-addicted readers of HowHeAsked – and yes, she cries reading every single one.

Tell us a little about your publication?

HowHeAsked.com is the digital destination for all things marriage proposal. How He Asked, acquired by XO Group, Inc. in September 2016 to allow The Knot to better serve its audience even earlier in the wedding planning journey, provides a platform for couples to share their engagement stories and has built a community of love-obsessed readers by sharing the best ones on their website and social media channels (their Instagram has over half a million followers!). With a library of 16,000+ proposals, the site also provides education, inspiration, and tools to help soon-to-be proposers plan their own life-changing moment.

How did you get into publishing?

I was 23 when my first friend got engaged. The story was incredible and I was in tears for days over it. After telling the story a thousand times myself (and, again, it wasn’t even my proposal!), I realized proposal stories were priceless and needed a place to be shared and loved by all.

What types of submissions are you looking for? Do you have a particular style?

We are looking for captured proposals or engagement shoots! Every story shared on HowHeAsked.com has the story of “how we met” and “how he asked” (written by the bride or groom!). When there are photos of the actual proposal to go along, that’s always amazing, but we love using a couples’ engagement session photos as well if not.

What is your favorite feature that you sourced through TBL in that last year?

We’ve had so many favorites over the last year! Here’s an incredible same-sex proposal from Venice, Italy. This is also a great proposal in the rain, pictured above.

What advice would you give to a new submitter?

Our hearts sing when we can see the spirit and personality of a couple within their photos. Laughs, whispers, hugs, big kisses and bigger smiles always do the trick!

What are some of your favorite current trends?

We love how special and thoughtful proposals continue to be, and of course, it’s amazing to see them photographed more and more.
