Real Weddings: A San Diego Oceanic Affair

Groom Gives Bride a Twirl on La Jolla Cove by Lisa Fitts Photography

We never cease to be inspired by couples who survive the difficult obstacles of a long distance relationship. For Halleh and Freeman, long distance meant being on two opposite sides of the world. Bride Halleh shared with us that her husband, Freeman, is an officer in the Navy and after only three months of being engaged, he was stationed in the Middle East. Planning the wedding kept Halleh distracted from the fact that Freeman was not there and it also made her connection and love for him even stronger. When the two finally reunited for their wedding, it was a spectacular show! Freeman and Halleh both grew up along the California coast and felt a strong tie to the ocean. Hence, the ceremony was appropriately set in beautiful La Jolla Cove  in sunny San Diego, overlooking the crystal ocean blue waters. Halleh was glowing in her amazing Mori Lee ball gown accessorized with simple gold jewelry.  Lisa Fitts Photography was there to capture the gorgeous ceremony as the two exchanged vows under a charming DIY driftwood arch, created by the bride’s sister and brother-in-law who collected the pieces of driftwood off a Northern California beach. The bride revealed to us that all of their wedding reception details were in DIY fashion. Both her and Freeman are fans of gardening and handed out precious hand potted succulents as party favors with the tag, “Plant with love.” Instead of a wedding cake, the bride and groom decided on finger friendly, personalized Sprinkles Cupcakes with little flags with guests’ names written on them. The cupcakes served the dual purpose as a tasty treat and the table cards. How clever! Throughout the reception area at the Admiral Baker Clubhouse there were hand-made signs with the bride and groom’s favorite quotes. It was the perfect wedding for a marriage worth waiting for.
