1) Understand your Audience
When assessing who your audience is, consider the following questions:
- Who are you trying to attract?
- Who is within your niche?
- What are their main problems?
- What are their aspirations?

2) Identify Which Words you Should Use
When creating any copy that lives on your website, make sure that you are using keywords that your intended audience is actually looking for. To get started you can use free tools like Google Keyword Planner, or take a look at your competitors to see their ranking, as well as what terms/phrases they are using. Keywords should be added into your website’s page titles, subheadings, page text, blog posts, blog categories and more. 3) Update the Content on your Site
Ensure that you have multiple web pages that cover everything your users will need to know about you and your services. We recommend starting with the key standard pages such as the Home page, an About Me page, a Services page, a Portfolio page (with subpages here to focus on different areas and niches), a Blog page, and a Contact form.
4) Set Aside Time to Build Up your Blog
Blogging is a great asset to your website for a number of reasons. Not only do search engines prefer sites that are frequently updated with new information, but it also gives you a means to communicate your point of view. Blogs can cover a wide variety of topics; you can further explain certain FAQs, share your passions, share personal stories, and more.
5) Use your Photography
Make sure to showcase your beautiful photos to help further your SEO by keeping these tips in mind:
- Always resize your images to the same size as their intended display size
- Use images that are less than 250KB
- Rename your images using your keyword phrases
- Add ALT text to describe the image (no more than 40 characters)
- Pin your images to Pinterest too

6) Tell Search Engines you Exist
Don’t rely on Google to come and find your site—submit your sitemap to Google by setting up a profile with Google Search Console. While you’re at it, connect your website with Google Analytics and your business on Google Business. Don’t forget to submit to Bing Webmaster Tools as well!
7) Develop your Social Media Presence
What better way to show off your beautiful photography than on social media! Take the time to establish accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, and the like. Make sure to actively participate with those in your niche by following and engaging with their content!
8)Track your Efforts
With all your SEO groundwork laid out, it’s time to start monitoring your website traffic. If you want to take it one step further add a tracking code from Google Analytics onto your site to more closely monitor site traffic. Important metrics to keep track of are your Bounce Rate, Most Visited Pages, and common searches.
