On the Road: Showit United Tempe, AZ + Our Conference Suggestions for 2020

Hi friends! Earlier this month, Meghan and I had the opportunity to head out to sunny Tempe, AZ for the 2019 Showit United Conference. We spent 4 days hugging (it’s a conference thing) and getting to know hundreds of amazing photographers and leaders in the industry. Not only were the main sessions and breakouts full of great education, but they were filled with inspiring personal experiences that left everyone energized and motivated to take on 2020. I also loved that attendees had the option to add on styled shoots to their conference experience. If you haven’t seen some of the amazing photos from the shoots, I highly suggest checking them out!

Since it was my first time at Showit United, I didn’t know what to expect (besides lots of hugs and needing an 80’s outfit and bright colored gown for Tuesday’s gala). Upon arrival on Sunday (11/3), Meghan and I attended a welcome lunch at Co-Founder and CEO Todd Watson’s home with other event sponsors and speakers (a big thank you to Todd and Elisa for being gracious hosts!). This was a great opportunity to meet all the amazing speakers and sponsors prior to the conference, and for everyone to mingle and share their goals and what they were looking forward to that week. I quickly realized that this tight knit community of creatives were all there for each other — to uplift, provide knowledge and insight, and connect.

Day 1 of the conference started early Monday morning, when Meghan and I grabbed breakfast with TBL friend and photographer Raelene Schulmeister — it was awesome talking and getting to know each other! After breakfast, we headed down to the conference hall and caught the main morning session, which got me excited and energized for the next few days ahead.

Luckily, I was able to sit in and experience several main and breakout sessions throughout the entire week from notable speakers like: Jasmine Star, Devin Robinson, Julie Paisley, Vanessa Hicks, Katelyn James, Amy and Jordan Demos, James and Jess Wittmayer, Chip Dizárd, and SO many more. Unfortunately, I did not get to sit in on Meghan’s breakout “How to Stand Out in an Oversaturated Market,” but I know she did amazing!

Another plus to attending (and sponsoring Showit United 2019) was having the opportunity to meet SO many current TBL users and to hear their success stories! It also allowed us to speak with individuals who are new to the industry and looking to expand their marketing efforts. We always love to chat with our current and new users, as it’s extremely beneficial to receive feedback and hear about their experience using the platform.

Oh, and don’t worry, we didn’t forget to have a little fun while we were out in AZ! From 80’s night and karaoke with the Showit crew, my first time having In-N-Out Burger (can we say amazing?!), Tuesday’s gala & dinner, the list goes on! The sense of community at Showit United was like nothing I’ve ever experienced and I am so glad I was able to be a part of it.

A big thank you goes out to everyone at Showit, the conference sponsors, every single one of the speakers and breakout leaders who shared their hearts and leadership, and all the friends we made during our 4 days in Tempe. I can’t wait to see you all next year!
